Courses for Practitioners: Speech and Language Support for 5-11s

A practical training course for staff working in primary schools to enable them to develop the speech and language skills of ALL children but especially those with speech and language difficulties. Delivered by local tutors throughout the UK it gives practical advice and strategies which are also suitable for children with English as an additional language and other special educational needs. Over 7,000 people have already completed this training and found it has helped them to differentiate the curriculum more effectively.

What do participants receive?

A Level 3 or Level 2 nine credit Award in Knowledge and Practice to Support the Communication Skills of 5-11s – both levels are now on the QCF! A portfolio of evidence will need to be submitted.

The course uses interactive teaching methods, practical activities, videos and group discussion to engage learners.

What do learners say?
It has been such a good course, and such a good starting point for my new job. I feel that I have gained so much more knowledge and understanding in this area, which can only benefit my pupils. Great support and guidance from our tutor. This by far the most comprehensive and informative course I've ever been on (and I just completed my Masters) well done, I'm getting so much from it. That said it will take a few months of trial and error (and a few case studies) to implement the wonderful strategies. My son has an SSLI (Irish term for Specific Speech and Language Impairment) therefore I have a personal and professional interest!Brilliant course and would definitely recommend this to my colleagues!By far the most comprehensive and informative course I have ever completed since qualifiying (15 years ago!) Well done to all involved. I would be most interested in working with Elklan again. It will take a number of months to implement the strategies, but looking forward to it.
