Courses for Practitioners: Supporting Children with Unclear Speech
This course is available for those who have completed one of our core courses and would like to learn how to take children through an effective therapy programme to help them speak clearly.
Once a child or young person has received a SaLT assessment then working through our portfolio with him/her will enable you to understand and implement all the necessary stages for development of speech sounds.
This is now available as a via e-learning, below, and by two-day intensive programme with an additional half day or web based session eight weeks later if this is not being taught in your locality.
What will participants receive?
A six credit award at either Level 3 or Level 2 in Supporting Children with Unclear Speech. A portfolio of evidence must be submitted.
Who is the course for?
This course is for staff who support children of any age who have some degree of speech difficulty.
It is necessary for learners to have previously attended one of the Elklan core courses as knowledge of speech and language difficulties are assumed and vital strategies to develop language and communication are not covered.
How is the course delivered?
This course is designed to be delivered over two full days and a half day eight weeks later. The first two days are consecutive and the final day follows eight weeks later to reflect on and review the portfolios detailing the therapy carried out with the child. The course uses relevant teaching methods including practical activities, videos and group discussion to engage learners.
How much does it cost?
Local providers vary the price. If supplied by Elklan the current fee is £395 plus VAT to include the accreditation fee and the book.
What does the course teach?
Who can teach the course?
The courses have been written so that speech and language therapists and teaching advisors can teach it in their locality under license. Click here for more information on becoming an Elklan Tutor.
