Elklan e-learning

I was really reluctant to take part in a Webinar type training course as it was new to me but I have found that Heather made it really easy and was very welcoming. I would definitely be happy to do it again!

I have found the training really useful and although i felt I was a good practitioner before the training, I feel I have learnt some really useful strategies to ensure support for all children but particularly those with SLC needs is more targeted and therefore more likely to improve outcomes as quick as possible.

This course has really helped me improve my practice and made me realise all the the different aspects of speech, language and communication.

I have learnt so many strategies and understand so much more about the needs of children than I ever did before. More importantly, I have been given the tools to assess and checklists to carry out much needed evaluations to enable me to chart the progress of my own learning and that of the children I support. I have spent some time exploring the e-learning modules for the 3-5s course. I love the feel of the learning and that it is genuinely interactive, reflective and high quality. I have done e-learning before but it really was glorified PowerPoints only. These modules inspired me to keep reading and looking (even though I have delivered the content of the course for years).

It was great for me to compare the delivery and style of course. It worked well and I thought the e-learning sessions were very good and clear. I liked the fact that it was interactive and challenged the delegates to think. As a tutor it was easy to follow and run the course.

I found the Elklan course really useful and from the training I am going on to the role of speech and language support for the whole school. Due to covid all the training was online, but I found the webinar meetings that were held every week really helpful. It was nice to talk to other practitioners and hear about their experiences. I would definitely recommend this course to everyone.

Yes thank you for knowledge I have accrued which has enabled me as SENCO to grow in confidence and apply my new found skills within school itself. I have grown as a facilitator in our school and seeing the support for our children with speech and language difficulties already benefit them.

The course has enhanced my practice withing my setting. Sharing what I have learnt with my colleagues has also helped to support and improve their practice with the students.

This by far the most comprehensive and informative course I've ever been on (and I just completed my Masters) well done, I'm getting so much from it.

By far the most comprehensive and informative course I have ever completed since qualifying (15 years ago!) Well done to all involved. I would be most interested in working with Elklan again. It will take a number of months to implement the strategies, but looking forward to it.

It has been such a good course, and such a good starting point for my new job. I feel that I have gained so much more knowledge and understanding in this area, which can only benefit my pupils. Great support and guidance from our tutor.

The course it is fantastic and will start changing the way you view ALL children very quickly.

The course was probably one of the best decisions I've made in my 6 years as a Learning Support Assistant and I am hoping to do another Elklan course over the next academic year.

I have a son with speech problems so I thought I knew a fair bit about speech and language but this course has shown me how little I actually knew! After completing the course I am now able to look at both my own child and the children I work with from a completely different point of view. I know that what I've learnt on the course will change the way I do my job in the future.

The ability to stretch the course out over 10 weeks was really beneficial as it allowed me time to study each subject and to try and put into practice the skills I was developing. The online e-learning element was crucial to my learning process as it allowed me to choose when I studied throughout the week and to replay elements that I was unsure of. My tutor was always available if I had any questions and was very quick to respond (even over weekends and bank holidays!). Although it was sometimes hard work to balance studying with work and home life, it was well worth the effort and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the course to my colleagues - in fact, I already have!

I would just like to say what a comprehensive course this has been - when you think of e-learning it can be a little daunting but each session has been presented in a way which is easy to access and very thorough. The joy of 'looking' at each session was the fact that you could stop at any time, restart and review anything, it was easy to follow. The Wednesday evening webinar sessions with Jo were also very well presented. She is a very good tutor and made all of us feel very comfortable. It was good talking to the others about their practises and settings in relation to what the topic was each week. The portfolio was also easy to follow and very well thought through and Jo was very quick at getting back to me if I had any queries.

Once again well done for such an excellent course, I will definitely recommend it to others and will look at further courses in the future.

The AAC e-learning course is well-structured and contains fantastic examples and explanations of AAC at different levels. I found the videos especially powerful in showing the use of AAC in different age groups, and for different levels of ability. I was fascinated to learn about AAC and its link with social skills, including the important impact that this can have for relationships with family members. I highly recommend this course for those who wish to refresh skills and knowledge in this area, or who are new to this field of work.

The e-learning sessions are a fantastic achievement, I think. So well done and you've made them as interactive as possible. In a pandemic they're amazing
