This NEW UPDATED practical training course is specifically designed for you if you are working in primary and secondary schools with pupils with autism or a social communication need. You will learn about the changes to the diagnostic criteria and how to manage pupils with sensory conditions in the classroom. Written as an additional module, you must have completed an Elklan core course before attending this training. (If you haven't completed a Elklan core course, please see the ten-session course Communication Support for Verbal Pupils with ASD.)
It provides a broad overview into effective communication practice with those with ASD and has plenty of ‘hands on’ activities which help to apply the learning and makes the course very interactive.
It's a great 'one stop shop' from which further training programmes in specific techniques can be explored further.
This training will provide you with:
A wealth of information and an opportunity to share experiences with other teachers and teaching assistants (TAs)
Practical advice and strategies which are easy to implement in the classroom and wider school or environment
Language Builders for Verbal ASD e-book, a practical resource containing an abundance of tips, ideas and strategies
Registration with OCN London to enable you to achieve accreditation at level 2 or 3 (accredited courses only)
Access to our unique online learning log, allowing you to complete and submit your coursework online (accredited courses only)
You'll be taught a wide range of topics through the five sessions. These are fun and interactive and cover:
